An app for your meds

If your loved ones are prescribed complex medication regimens, there is a large likelihood they may not be taking them correctly and on time. This may lead to unnecessary trips to the hospital. To help patients and their caregivers better manage medications, the National University Hospital (NUH) has developed a mobile app called NUH myMeds.

This ‘pill-minder’ app can be customised such that users can add the list of medications that they are currently taking and set reminders at their desired or scheduled timings. Details of each medication (e.g. side effects and storage) are also easily accessible from the created list of medications.

All the app functions can be viewed on the dashboard.

The app also holds information for more than 1,000 different medications. Users can find out more about their medications and how to manage any medication-related problems such as side effects.

In addition, this app allows NUH patients to re-order their balance medications at their convenience, which will then be pre-packed ahead of the requested collection time. Patients may even opt for home delivery for a nominal fee. For patients who prefer to head down to the pharmacies, they can use the ‘Queue Watch’ function to estimate the duration of wait via screen-grabs from webcams installed in the outpatient pharmacies at Main Building, Kent Ridge Wing, Medical Centre as well as the Heart Clinic.

The NUH myMeds app is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
